Master of Arts in Teaching Degree
Inservice M.A.T. programs challenge early childhood, elementary, middle school, and high school teachers who wish to engage in advanced study and improve their teaching practice. Coursework for the continuing teacher's license in early childhood/elementary education includes multidisciplinary study appropriate for the teacher of the self-contained classroom, grades K-8. The middle level/high school program enables teachers to develop exceptional competence in teaching one or several subjects.
Students may wish to complete a second endorsement instead of advanced study in their current subject-matter endorsement. Endorsements are offered in art, language arts, mathematics, music, reading, science (biology, chemistry, integrated science, or physics), social studies, and English for speakers of other languages/bilingual education (ESOL). A Master of Education (M.Ed.) is available for those interested in pursuing an endorsement in special education.
